The first satellite Internet service offered to customers in Europe was not a two-way service, but a one-way or dial return satellite Internet service. One-way service works by using a phone line and a modem for the uplink part of the connection and a satellite link for the download.

One way satellite Internet is often cheaper to set up not including the required line costs for the uplink. While the performance of one-way satellite Internet is similar to that of the two-way service, the one-way requires a local return channel for uplink.

While the Downstream receive, channel is getting conducted via a geostationary satellite, the upstream return channel gets operated by either 3G UTMS or 4G LTE GSM Networks, or L-Band narrow band Satellite channels.
Such Receive only terminals cause much less hazzel in certification and cost significant less then V-SAT 2-way communication systems.

The simrack server technology allows us to not require any more the presence of a physical simcard in one of our GSM modems built into our hardware devices. The simcard gets hosted in one of our Simrack Server Banks, from

where it does get assigned “On Demand”. By assigning a virtual instead of a physical simcard, extremely high cost savings can get achieved and roaming barriers do get broken down.

In 2006 we decided to build our own teleport as due to the bad experience on the IP side with various 3rd party teleports. These certainly do have expertise in SATCOM, as they work mainly in TV Broadcasting. But their knowledge in IT is very often quite limited.

We decided to operate all our core platforms and premium space capacities ourselves.

Nevertheless, we do have found a way to clever integrate 3rd party teleport operators in various geographic regions of the world.
